Real Yarn Spun by Hand

Real Yarn? What is Real Yarn?

Llamas in a Spring Snow

Kikko, Zorro, Mamma LLama, and Princess

Our Real Yarn comes from our naturally-colored, hand-raised: Llamas, Guanaco-crosses, Cashmere goats, Angora rabbits, and a variety of sheep, including: Icelandic, and Karakul.  We also receive lovely alpaca fiber from our friends at Paca Peace Ranch.

Our high-altitude ranch in Southern Colorado provides a great climate for fleece production.

Our free-ranging herd enjoys 50 acres of mountainous land to graze and explore during the day.  Shearing time comes around April or May.

Much of the fiber is hand-processed and then I card or comb, creating naturally-colored batts and rovings.

Next comes the hand-spinning on my 1800’s replica spinning wheel, the Navajo or the drop-spindle.

Some of the yarn is then naturally & vinegar-base dyed (with the help of Sara, my #1 color-consultant).

Each Real Yarn skein is a unique fiber creation, ready for your own personal vision and energy!
